Association of People with inflammatory bowel diseases in Romania (ASPIIR) was founded in 2010 with the support of the Romanian Society of Digestive Endoscopy and due to the desire of many people diagnosed with IBD inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease) and ostomates to learn more about these conditions, to share experience, to find answers.

The first meeting in the fall of 2009, Fundeni Clinical Institute Bucharest, gathered some patients in Bucharest or surroundings, few doctors from the Gastroenterology-Hepatology Institute of Digestive Diseases and Liver Transplantation Bucharest. Later we were joined by others: both IBD patients in Covasna, Constanta, Craiova, relatives or volunteers. An important partner and supporter of the association is consistently Romanian Club for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (RCCC).

ASPIIR has been cooperating with patient organizations in Europe, particularly the members of European Federation of Crohn’s & Colitis Association ( EFCCA) and European Ostomy Association ( EOA). ASPIIR aims to become a key partner for the medical teams, the Romanian stakeholders of the health administration, for the biopharmaceutical and industry, in particular, to establish a support for ostomates and patients with IBD in Romania.

We invite you to jojn  the Association of patients with IBD and stoma and we expect your stories, experiences, questions, suggestions in order to improve the quality of life of IBD patients and ostomates. It wil be motivating us to develop our efforts to improve the activities and the ASPIIR objectives.
